On May 14, 1839, a class was opened by Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Adliye-i Şahane in order to provide independent training for the pharmacy profession.

May 14^th is the anniversary of the introduction to pharmacy education in Turkey. It has been celebrated as the Day of Pharmacy since 1968. The Law No. 6197 on Pharmacists and Pharmacy entered into action in 1953 and the pharmacy profession is still carried out under this law.
