“Cyprus Herbarium and Nature History Museum” was opened to service at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The Museum contains materials related to 11 thousand different kinds of plant specimens, mushroom varieties, insect species, various reptile species, sea creatures and other materials related to the geology of Cyprus. All were gathered during 18 years of scientific studies in various units of Near East University.

The ceremonial opening of the Museum took place at the Faculty of Pharmacy and was attended by Turkey’s Nicosia Ambassador Ali Murat Başçeri and Chief Advisor Kadir Akçeşme, the Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Vice Rectors, deans, lecturers and guests.

The Museum will be a very important resource for researchers who work on biology, pharmacy, medicine, pharmacology, forestry and nutritional engineering.
